Galatians 6:6-10 EXPLAINED

By Ron Davis, servant of Christ

Now, another verse that these gospel peddlers use is Galatians 6:6,= where it says “let him who is taught the word share in all good things with= him who teaches”. Now, on the surface of this verse one would say this verse agrees with these peddlers of God’s word. Yet, I like to p= oint out one very important thing; and that is this verse do not say give them 1= 0% of your income - they came up with this figure, and they made it a commandm= ent of men. So, let us read it in proper context:

·      =    Galatians 6:6-10 (NKJV)… 6= Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, = that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, = for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

First, the Spirit tells us that we shou= ld “share in all good things” (this is the NKJV) with those who teach us. Now, let us read this same verse= in the old KJVLet him that is taught in the w= ord communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things”. Notice, now the word “communicate” is u= sed in the place of the word “share”; this reve= als to us that the meaning of this verse is not what most would have you to believ= e. And we can see this more in the fact that the apostle Paul had just finished speaking about a Christian being caught in a sin, and that we who are mature (spiritual) in the faith should restore him with all meekness and humility. Now, I ask this question, why would Paul in the middle of this speak about sharing material things with those who teach? Because the very next verse P= aul through the Spirit, speaks of us reaping what we sow (v. 7). In verse 8= , the Spirit says, “he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption”; is this speaking of fleshy material things? Or i= s it speaking here about the fleshy mind and habits of the flesh versus the thin= gs of the Spirit? The second half of this verse answers this question, and tha= t is “he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life” (v. = 8b). Now, let us go back to this verse = 6 again and see what the meaning of these words used in the Greek. The word translated as “communicate” in the old KJV and as “share” in the new NKJV version of the Holy Bible in the Greek, Strong̵= 7;s number 2841 means: 1) to come into communion or fellowship with, to become a sharer, be made a partner 2) to enter into fellowship, join one's self to an associate, make one's self a sharer or partner; and is translated also in t= he old KJV 7 times: “be par= taker 5, communicate 2, distribute 1”. The Greek word translated as “good things” here in the Greek, Strong’s number 18 means: “1) of good constitution or nature 2) useful, salutary 3) good, pleas= ant, agreeable, joyful, happy 4) excellent, distinguished 5) upright, honorable”. Notice, the definitions of these two words help us to und= erstand what this verse should say and that is: “Let him who is taught the word&= #8221;, “communicate” or “share” with the one who teaches” by fellowshipping and being a partner in the faith and word of Christ. This verse do not say share material goods but to share in the faith, become a partaker with those who teach by doing good towards them “share” in all good “nature or joyfulness= or happiness” with “him who teaches”  them. Now, the Greek word for "material" is “sarkiko/vR= 21;, Strong’s number 4559 from origin word 4561. In the English, it is translated as: 1) fleshly, carnal, having the nature of flesh; 2) being governed by mere human nature = not by the Spirit of God.

In verse 9, it says for us "not to grow weary in doing good&= quot; (doing the right thing towards others) for we will receive our reward in due time (season) if we do not lose heart (being good towards others when they do not return your good nature makes us weary and tied to always do good towards them). And in verse 10, we are exhorted to continue to doing good towards all as we have the opportunity especially to the household of faith (the churches of the saints of the Liv= ing God). Even if we wish to twist these verses to mean some thing they do not = we still are not commanded to give 10% of our income to some self-appointed ministers.

Therefore, I exhort you to continue in doing good to those who teach in the word with a sincere heart.= For they are worthy of your good nature and fellowship with them, that they may have a cheerful heart in this evil and adulterous world. This is what Galatians 6:6 exhort us to be of = good nature with these teachers of the faith, that they are happy to be with upr= ight and honorable brothers and sisters; and that we be partakers in the faith w= ith them in brotherly love as Christ loves us. Amen. Praise God.

Evangelist (Minister) Ron Davis, a servant of Christ Jesus, of the Kush Edifying Ministries proclaims the whole counsel of God. Th= is ministry believes in the command of Jesus to His disciples in Matthew 10:7-8 “As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is ne= ar.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who= have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” (NI= V). Jesus commands us to “freely”= ; preach the word without demanding those preached to give us ten (10%) of their inc= ome or earnings.
